Hair fall or hair loss? Knowing when to seek help

SkinPsyche Care Team 28 July 2026

Losing some hair every day is completely normal — most people shed anywhere between 50 and 100 strands daily as part of the natural hair growth cycle.

What's worth paying attention to is a change in that pattern: noticeably more hair on your pillow or in the shower, a widening part, or slower regrowth after a shedding phase.

These changes can be linked to genetics, hormonal shifts, nutritional deficiencies, stress or scalp conditions. A scalp and hair diagnosis helps identify which of these applies to you, rather than guessing with generic hair-fall shampoos.

Early diagnosis matters because many causes of hair thinning respond much better to treatment when caught early, before follicles are dormant for too long.
